Hurricane Shutters Can Protect Your Possessions

People who live in coastal counties are prone to hurricanes. The Florida Peninsula is known to have experienced severe damage due to hurricanes. Most of the damage could have been avoided if Hurricane Shutters had been installed. Many people believe that tape can be applied to the windows to prevent wind damage during a hurricane. This could not be farther from the truth. Tape can not stop flying debris from entering your home. The best solution would be to apply shutters to all windows and all doors that has glass.
Shutters prevent flying debris from breaking out windows during a storm. Which in turn, provides protection for the people in the home and their possessions. Without Hurricane Shutters, the inside of the house is in jeopardy due to the high wind gusts. In the past, high wind pressure has been known to actually lift the roof off of homes. Therefore, causing heavy destruction the to property inside. Every precaution should be made to properly protect your property, starting with shutters.

There are many types of pre-installed shutters on the market today. There is the Automatic Rolldown Shutter, which can be operated manually or by motor. They are enclosed in a box atop each window. The Accordion Shutters are interior window shutters and installed on the inside of the house. They are deployed manually and fasten at the bottom. The Bahama and Awning Shutters both fold down and latch to the wall. These type shutters are also great at providing shade from the sun. Board and Batt Shutters not only provide protection, but are also a beautiful accessory to the home.

If cost is factor, plywood shutters should be considered. They are the least expensive type of Hurricane Shutters to install. The plywood is cut individually to fit each window. It is then applied using large bolts to hold in place. The only disadvantage to using this type of shutter is they have to be applied each time the city is in jeopardy of a hurricane. The best time to purchase shutters is before hurricane season begins. Installation companies are really busy during hurricane season and the price of shutters tend to rise.
